I doubt it. The part numbers provided earlier in the thread are just for replacements. My guess is it will be V3's with altered spring rates (particularly the change to a linear rear spring). Again, just a hunch.

I'd be ok with that. I pulled the part numbers off the rules sheet. I am not sure if they were the same ones posted in this thread.

If im reading the rules correctly, you can use the spec stuff or stay stock right? So wavetrac, wheels, cage at a minimum. Will the kws be needed to maintain rear tire contact due to helical diff? I think wavetracs looking to be oe diff on next gen z.

I'm getting an answer for you. I'll let you know what they say. Also finding out about the Brembo on all models and allowing the Nismo model.

Thanks, Brian.

If they allow the nismo...then the stitch welded chassis issue is a moot point as well.

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the creation of the new Spec Z series that will feature the Nissan 350Z®. The Spec Z class will include all trim levels of the popular 2003-2008 Nissan 350Z in a single class focused...
...on close competition, parity and cost containment that will showcase driving ability and car setup skills.

Hopefully that means the Non-Nismo's can run the body work, etc.

Looks like I missed the boat on this one. Just got the Moton Clubsports and gutted the dash.

Would have been nice to have the option to run in this class sometime in the future. Too bad they're limiting the suspension. Also in classes where they're trying to limit costs I don't understand why you can't gut a car more. This is one of the lowest cost mods for a do it yourselfer. The lower weight also reduces wear and tear.

Anyway, no turning back now. Trying to go faster at the local is a disease.

Good luck with the new series.

Your motons won't lose much value....you could likely sell them in a year for what all the spec z suspension stuff will cost. Just some food for thought.

Given NASA's emphasis on budget oriented spec series.....I doubt it. Again, just a hunch.

I saw that too and immediately thought Nismo-Z! I read another section stating something about the general use of oem parts which I assume means the brembos can be equipped on non-brembo cars. I wonder if that allows for tricks like murano wheel bearings?

In any case I am highly considering the sale of my G35 now, but I still want to see some clarification on the rules first.

Yes, Spec Z competitors will be allowed to upgrade to Brembo brakes (as used on the track, GT and NISMO 350Z USDM models) and NISMO bodywork (if you can afford it). But other "tricks" like using Murano wheel bearings will NOT be allowed, unless there's a change to the rules.

Call me crazy, but as the rules stand....I think the 03-04 at 3100lbs and having nismo bodywork might be the car to have. The exception being a place like RA with the long straights where the HR might stretch its legs just a bit with the added hp.

I am thinking the same thing. Even at RA there is a lot to be gained at the braking zone at 10 and 6, plus if you can cary more speed up the hill at 1-3 you can make up a lot of time.

Sorry, I should clarify...I meant Road America.

I think the 200lbs for the HR is a bit steep. That's a lot of additional weight for the given tire allowances.

Given the fact that Nasa Championships are at Mid-O....I'd want the 03-04.

I agree. Good thing I have an 04.

I bet the Nismo body work is stupid expensive too. I emailed Paul St. Clair about some of this. I expressed my concern about some of the rules. The only thing he said he would look into is the heater core and blower fan part.

Thankfully. . . since the used NISMO body parts I bought (for SCCA use) are already on their way and the car has Brembos. I guess I'm 50% there.

What about using all OEM motors? My 03' has a rev-up.

My guess is you will just have to conform to the rev-up weight/hp....
