I've read through the entire thread but the question of using an oil pan spacer tap for the return doesn't seem like it's been answered yet. Is going this route bad or not?

JonnyC- were you at the cruise on the 18th? I'm the guy who had the disco party on the side of the highway. Anyway I'm putting a SC on the car now after having all that fun.

There is no definitive answer on the oil pan spacer yet :-/ Some people say it's fine, others warn against doing it.

Yup, I was there. Sending you a PM...

Im going to do a vortech install next month. I'm getting ready to purchase the gates belt but in reading about the kit I have a question that I didnt see in the faq. With the new non revup belt layout, is there different belt length used? Per the faq, "For the original non-REVUP kit, you want a 93.5 inch belt for the stock 3.33 pulley"

My mpg went from 24 to 15 after the vortech install. Maybe it's because I'm haveing too much fun with my new found power.

Do you know your belt length off hand. Was the belt supplied in your kit a gates belt?

I got a tuner kit also last year. There's a whole thread on the belt sizes that you can search for. The new "short" belt is a 79.5" gates belt.

Thumbs up

Best right up on both sides of the Mississippi...lol!

I got a Vortech RevUp kit (3.1 pulley but idlers offset the boos pressure? ) and it came with a Unichip...

I am getting a tuned on Thurs...

I am all about low air fuels and safety..,

Running APS Tall boy Plenum
HF Cats...
Stillen Y pipe
Stock mid pipe and muffler (quiet FTW)

Confused on running colder plugs with engine temps so low (vs. turbo)????
Debating on running 440 cc injectors??

My HP goal is 350-380 wheel.

Comments????

Default Vortech FTW!

I got a Vortech RevUp kit (3.1 pulley but the idler pulley offset the boost pressure? )

It came with a Unichip piggy back...
Vortech instructions were wrong for the fuel pressure relay ( I demand credit in the manual...lol)
I am getting it tuned on Thurs...June 26.

I am all about low air fuels and safety...
Did NOT go with Underdrive pulleys because of the gamble, so therefore I drilled into my oil pan per the Vortech instructions. about 600 miles on the car...granny driving with no leaks or issues.

Unichip experiences?

Car put down 282 at 4K RPMs (shop could not tune Unichip)...then air fuel shot up because its not tuned after 4.5K RPMs

My HP goal is 350-380 REAL rear wheel numbers no inflated crap.

Comments????

Get rid of the unichip and pick up a Utec. There are a few on the classifieds for a great deal.

is there a way to run a bigger blower to get boost a lot faster but limit the amount of boost you get up high? and by that I mean like some sort of waste gate maybe...... I dont know, I am just wanting more than 1 or 2 PSI at 2500 to 3k rpm..... but I dont want 20 at redline....... idealy I would want about 5 psi at about 3k but not go over what the 2.87 pulley would give at redline..... does anyone have a lay out of what boost you are at when going through the rpm ranges?

I bought a used blower with an upgrade to the Si-trim, and I was thinking I was going to have to install a pressure relief valve (http://www.928m.com/parts/boostlimitervalve.php - found much cheaper elsewhere). However, I haven't gone over 9 psi yet with a 3.33 pulley.

3 psi at 3250
5 psi at 4500
6 psi at 5000
7 psi at 5500
8.5 psi at 6000
Max out at about 9 right now

ok so basically with that I could run a 2.87 pulley and limit my boost to 10 psi at redline.... or even a bigger blower where decent boost (5 to 6 psi) comes on around 2500 to 3k but everything over a certain boost level gets dumped.....

I think you will hit 350 with no problems. Did you get the 440cc injectors? I went for the 550 and put down 392whp with the 3.12 pulley. I'm using the utec though. I had a unichip when I was NA then switched to the utec and noticed a major difference in performance. I would hate to see pay for a tune twice. I really think you should invest in the utec, and sell the unichip. I sold mine on ebay for 400.
