For any of you Vortech owners who wonder about the 2.87 pulley, its amazing. Make sure you have a solid tune to go with it and you should be ok. Wish I would have done this a year ago.

so I understand that an underdriven pulley should not be used cuz it would result in less boost, but is the stock pulley really the best crank pulley to use?

I have currently installed a UR stock size lightweight crank pulley-would this be ok with a sc, or problematic due to the lighter weight?

What about dampened pulleys like the ATI and Fluidampr? Those are slightly overdriven and should result in higher boost in addition to lessening torsional vibrations. Thoughts?

I'm running a lightweight crank pulley, but I think most people run the stock pulley.

There's risks with running a lighter pulley and the people that have ran into issues with them will tell you it's not worth the risk

On an expensive built engine, I'd probably not run a light crank pulley

Hi,

This is what i have in hand now:

RC 440cc injetors off from the Greddy TT kit (in my garage)
Walbro fuel pump(in my garage)
Utech(in my garage)
Vortech tuner kit(on the way)
DC headers (on the car already)
Kinetix V+ and high flow cat(on the car already)
Injen SES (on the car already)

Will this set up give me 400whp safely? Or anything i should add to the setup? Please help, I am new to the supercharge world?

Many Thanks!!

Ka

I answered your PM fishclub the other day that you might need to either get larger injectors OR get a return fuel system, but I don't think 440cc's will be enough with just those and a walbro.

as far as power you might reach, I also added this to my #17 post in this thread. People can try go see what range of whp they might end up possibly getting

- ballpark hp numbers for original VQ35 on a typical dynojet SAE corrected generally are in the neighborhood of:

320-335 whp, stock vortech tune with stock pulley and stock everything else on car (stock exhaust, cats, etc)
340-350 whp tuned
350-370 whp add exhaust, HF cats, plenum, and tuning
370-390 whp add 3.12 pulley and tuning
380-400 whp add headers and/or test pipes, and tuning
390-420 whp add 2.87 pulley and tuning
420-440 whp add cams and tuning
440-475 whp add water/meth injection, more timing, at least half race gas (96 octane or higher) and tuned

470-500 whp add 34 tooth rear cog jackshaft pulley and tuning *theoretical

500-580 whp upgrade blower, build engine with 4.24 liter stroker kit, ported heads, and keep compression ratio somewhat high around 9.5 or so,
and tuning *theoretical

torque numbers are generally 70-90 less than the peak whp numbers
