Cass007.... ver 5.0
graff kid, thanks for the info. I'll try leaving the trans in this time to save trouble.
Cass, with a built low compression engine you will see less vac under idle. Mine only idles high 13/ low 14mmhg when i'm at idle. It has been checked multiple times for leaks and nothing found.

Thanks guys!! The smoke test revealed 6-8 very small leaks in various spots, nothing huge, they were all fixed.
There is some definate valvetrain noise upon startup, but the oil pressure is good and comes up immediately. Possibly cam clearences need to be adjusted. It goes away when warm for the most part, but is still somewhat noisier than previous motors
always have to have some drama
Glex - I took a few pics for you and will get them posted up hopefully later tonight.
I just got the car home. 70 mile trip and oil temps were between 150*-180*F cruising and up to 200*F in stop and go traffic on the highway. The AFRs are way off right now, so no boosting till I sort out when/who is tuning. I am still running the ViPEC though.

Depending on what items you have in your head, yeah they get can loud. My built civic sounded like a spray can with marbles rattling around when starting it up.
My Trailblazer with the stock inline 6 4.2 also sounds like *** when cold.

Congrats Chris. Im stoked for you man.
For Glex:
Drivers side:
Pass side:
Just drilled and tapped the upper pan just below the windage tray and bought a solid piece to cover the the drivers side hole in the oil pan and a fitting that had the correct size/thread for the Defi oil temp sensor to go in the passenger side of the oil pan (you can see this in the second pic).
Will do. Yes, they have enough angle to be gravity fed and they should flow at least as well as the regular kit setup. Plus, these hoses shouldn't swell like the stock hoses did.
I have a buddy that has the same set up with his JWT TT kit and he dosent smoke at all he ran it for 2-3 years like that.
Good to hear you are running again, my built engine was fairly noisy as well with C2s JWT springs they had the clearances checked at least twice now!!!
The only upside to multiple engines each time I do something I missed the last time or change/check things I didn't like.

The tentative diagnosis is that I have a bad timing chain tensioner on the passenger side. Not valve lash related.
Got the new ViPEC firmware update today and made some decent power. It drives smoother than ever, tuner said something about it being in closed loop mode until one of three triggers change it to open loop during acceleration... most of this is lost on me.
Still need to get the oil cooler installed, but oil temps never got over 220*F while on the dyno. I will be running Brad Penn 10W30 right now and see how it holds up as it gets warmer outside. It came highly recommended by several places and used to be known as Kendall GT Race Oil before Kendall got bought out by a larger company and changed the formula.
