Dynosty: Haltech 350Z Pro Plug-In - OEM ECU Replacement
Yeah, I'd just be keeping the stock ECU around to sit on the CAN port, but it'd need to see the MAF, crank, cam, and a few other sensors. The problem is that if the stock ECU is on the CAN port, then the Haltech can't be (as it's not designed to be so there'd be collisions reading/responding to OBD for example), so it wouldn't be able to read the various CAN parameters, which would really limit its usefulness. Definitely needs to be thought through...
This new ECU is definitely worth it though, for the flex fuel support, more maps, more sensors, failsafes, etc.

Thast a good idea, I can see this working.
Use the haltech to run the motor, DBW, cruise, all that stuff.
the stock ecu will have to be happy enough to pass obd2 and control AT.
Why cant the haltech and ecu be on the CAN lines at same time? The current Haltech does this i think..
I can most likely make this work. I have all the connectors and stuff. Ive messed with the Z ecu swap a lot.

Feedback: 2 days ago I brought the Z back to Cincy from Louisville, drove in the rain back home. Managed 26 mpg a 75 mph. This was on E85 on a built motor BP ST setup.
The car runs extremely smooth, even better than the Haltech Red-Box, I love the traction control functionality and Boost By Gear setup. Amazing, that the car just becomes more controllable.
Onto the E85 managed to find fast for 3.20 a gallon plus $1.00 off from my Kroger Plus card, Filled my tank for $2.20 a gallon on E85. The car runs and starts perfect.
Hal has set a soft rev-limit to 5K and 0psi boost cut until the car reaches a temp of 100 degrees.
Brake boosting is absolutely one of my favorite features.
The car idles much smoother, no more up and down from it transitioning to and from the ECU.
Im sure it does a lot more, but for me this is enough. I was happy I upgraded.
Cruise Control is a little different than OEM, but it works using factory buttons and works well.

Don, what sensor did you have to use to get the flex fuel support and how much did it cost? I'm tired of being nervous about running out of e85 on my long trips.
also, for some weird reason I lost cruise control. When i try to set it, it just blinks rapidly.
How did you get boost by gear? what year is your car? i didn't think the earlier versions (mine is an 03) had a sensor to pick up gears. I was boost by speed but since 1.10 came out i lost my wheel sensors so no more of that for me.
The Haltech sensor for flex fuel works directly with the new unit. I don't think there's a way to get it to work with the old Haltech PNP Harness units... (You have the original Haltech unit, right Jeff?)
ya, i'm toying with the idea of switching BUT if i have to pay for a 500$ sensor on top of a new unit it's out of my pricerange for what i need. If it was just the price for a new unit i could probably justify that but not 3 grand just for flex fuel.

I have an 05 Rev-Up
My Cruise was relocated to my center console from my wheel because of the aftermarket wheel, it works just like stock otherwise for me. No idea how it should be any different.
The unit has a can bus for additional sensors so wheels speed or gear position shouldn't be hard to add. I believe mine had it stock.
As for the E85 flex fuel sensor it is a god send. I was out on the other side of town and couldn't find E85 so I just filled up with 93 and kept on chugging, it drives the same just a little slower and to me it doesn't change the power enough because Im choked out with a little hot side anyway.
I believe the sensor was 500 but not sure.
Call and talk to Dustin @ Dynosty on Mon he has all of those answers and they know engine and ecu better than I do, Im learning as I go here.

Yes, you can unselect the narrowbands in the setup page and then it will not throw a code for them. Also you can repurpose the CEL into a shift light, knock light, or just set it to off if you desire.
HAL can you confirm that the supplied base map in the software is configured with the correct settings to suit the VQ35. For example hard to know values like cam solenoid frequency and related attributes or evap settings etc
If the map is pre-configured with the "hard to know" values it would be awesome.
FYI: Software is now available via the update feature in the manager.

edit: hmm my proefi has the cams at 250hz while the haltech has them at 300hz
have to get the software to check out the base maps

so you can control the O2 heaters and Evap system.
Is that stuff open access in Uprev yet?
damn that 11.1 looks awesome. so simply laid out compared to my system.
Very nice!
