RevUp Oil Consumption TSB and discussion

I was just pointed to the correct giant thread on oil consumption. The Z is my weekend driver, so I just crossed over 16k miles recently.
The dealer only replaced the short block. However, the dealer did state - and I believe there is documentation - that the engine was starved of oil upon their receipt of it. Ii was down at least 5 quarts. It had not seized yet, but my oil pressure was fairly low.
I see that the TSB states long block. Is the protocol that was followed incorrect in replacing only the short block? I see that 2 years worth of posts point more headaches even if I get a long block.

I took my Z in and I am getting a long block, no questions or fight needed. They actually called me to tell me after my OC appointment that they just ordered me a long block and its arriving in one day. Very happy about the ease and experience with this dealer.

Wow, I'd get pulled over as a gross polluter in my parts.
G/L with your VQ...

New TSB 7/30/2010
Just so everyone is aware. I just had my vehicle repaired and returned. The TSB now states: short-block, not long-block.

If still under warranty, start consumption test with dealer. Maybe they finally did something right with this shortblock only thing now.

So does this TSB only cover vehicles that are still under warranty? I'm about to hit 70k miles, but I've noticed considerable oil loss the past three changes. There's just so many posts in this thread. Is there someplace I can get official information on this? Thank you for any direction anyone can give me.

I believe Z's powertrain warranty is only 5yr/60K.
Scroll a few posts back and download the most recent revised TSB. Look at page 7.

So I really didn't think this day would come, but I apparently look to be joining the ranks of Oil-Consuming RevUps. After about 3K miles of driving, I apparently was WAY low on oil - so much so that my car was developing a mechanical rattle/flutter whenever I let off the throttle (the Z technician I spoke to said it sounded like the lifters were starved for oil). My oil pressure also dropped to about 3psi and wouldn't even go above 35psi at full throttle. I checked it out, and the oil was extremely dark and 3/4" below the L at the tip of the dipstick. After putting in another quart, the rattle/flutter went away, my oil pressure returned to normal values, and everything has been working fine.
I'll be taking my car in to the shop tomorrow to have my spacer removed (just to avoid any complications at the dealership). I'm also going to remove my tune and return the ECU to stock, before hitting up the dealership for the Oil-Consumption test (which they kindly asked me to come in and have performed).
Note - this is also the second time I've encountered the rattle/flutter sound prior to an oil change. I just wasn't able to identify the problem the first time.
Really couldn't be much better timing, to be honest. My warranty runs out in 6 months and I have 45,800 miles on the car. What a great time to get a new engine.
