Official STS Rear Mount Turbo Discussion Thread
well i think the my precision turbo 6265 ball bearing seized up cuz i don't even hear initial spool so i decided to get the gt35 that going for 400 and use it for my break in while I save more money to build this turbo the way i want it instead.
Im considering this Kit. At the moment Im have another engine in garage I am going to rebuild for boost. Then just swap in, when ready for turbo.
My Question, could a rear mount turbo make an a efficient 525rwhp? That is my goal at the least. Im not interested in dumping ton of cash into a bottom end build to only get mid 400s.
all things considered, The sound is amazing on sts kit.

Check CMyTailsBlink old build and look at the 600whp dyno and you'll see his power is way up high. That is with race gas and with a fully built 3.8L motor. I have also witness goosgoose try to break that 500whp on a built 3.5L motor and it wasn't pretty. Last time I checked he went TT and he said it was a night and day difference.
Hey, if you want to be unique and you want some challenges then go for it. I have a small turbo and I'm lucky to hit 6psi on first gear (full boost is 8psi). I can't imagine having a big turbo back there... I guess it will help with the traction.

yes i had my charge pipe routed in the middle. my car was the first one to get it. i just cant drive with that ugly pipe on the side here in new york... being first sometime suck because my pipe wasnt jethot coated so part of the rear pipes are rusted now
wow its almost 5 years since i had the kit.... the damn kit and my motor are still running fine so i had no reason to change it.. but the moment the turbo goes out, I'm jumping ship.. for a change.. yes goosegoose just had some bad build or bad luck. i feel bad for him because he spent a lot of money.. its not sts fault though...

I believe they started selling the re-route pipes on their standard kit. They do sell the modified pipes.

no doubt the rear-mount will perform especially on bigger motor.. but you can say the same thing with a front-mount.. let us compare apples to apples. take a Big single front mount turob put that to a 3.5L motor and compare the number and the power curve to a rear-mount with the same size turbo and motor. I think in smaller turbo, the difference is not that huge but the bigger the turbo the power curve start shifting to the right (higher rpm).
