you may be able to get it done for less by checking around though. You never know when you will come across a welder in need of some coin!

Do you guys know how much it cost to weld up the three nipples? (2 on the passenger, 1 on the driver?)

I went to welding/radiator shop, they quoted me 50 bucks, i think that is a little steep?
I paid $50 the first time I had this done. Then cheaper the second time around.

Tell your welder to keep an eye on the tube's seam. with all the heat, it tends to want to split open. Plus make sure he grinds off all the slag inside.

when all said and done, pressure test it.
Ghetto/easy way: fill up your bathtub, cap one opening with your hand, and blow hard in the other end. if bubbles come out the weld area, you got a leak.

+1 do it right the first time....Just say NO to JB weld

you dont wanna be driving and all of a sudden your temps sky rocket because the JB weld popped out or cracked and started leaking coolant.

If thinking about punching out nipple, be careful. I did it n it made a hairline crack all the way through.

make sure to use a lube when threading. Lube ALWAYS helps gettin it in

on the thermostat, I used a cutoff wheel to take the nipple off, then I drilled and tapped the t-stat.
If you mess it up, just order a t-stat from an HR motor......it is nippleless!

Makes sense. I'm glad I have a nippleless tstat. I'm dropping my car off at fail safe in November so I'll add this mod to the list for them.
Thanks for the reply

read the pages, your missing alot....

oil cooler will clog and become a corrosion junk build up point. better flow/circulation on fluid, etc..

I was at one of the local dealers a few week back and was talking to a buddy who is a tech there. I looked into his parts wash tank and there were several old oil coolers dumped in there. He told me that they clog, corrode and leak. "[you are] better off removing it from the engine" was his take on them.
