Default Break in Period Q? for everyone

As some of you may already know im a new member here, just got an 06 auto. Got a question for everyone about break in period, did you follow what it say on the manual 1,200 miles? I bought the car just yesterday 9/4 with only 18 miles on it, now 84. i dont know how long i'll take me to get to that point. lol

Yes, you should wait until you get to 1200 miles before going over 4000 rpm. Also during this time, do not drive at constant speed for an extended period of time (switch gears or change your speed every so often).

Nah, you shouldn't follow the recommendations of your car's manufacturer. What do they know anyways?

You're much better off trusting the suggestion from an anonymous 14 years old kid browsing the internet...

Drive it like you stole it,
Run regular fuel it's fine,
Don't change your oil ever, just add some when the red light turns ON...

enjoy.

Don't stress the motor until the engine is warm.
Don't hold a constant speed for a prolonged time.
Try to keep the revs down at first and slowly increase the "working" redline.
You need to seat the rings and valves so you DO need to run the engine under some load at times, just try to avoid full load for a while.

Truth is most of us end up running WOT at some point during breakin because we can't help ourselves and perhaps that actually helps seat the rings.

Not a good way to start a long term relationship.
